Strain list with yield reports

After @recluse requested a list of cultivars we had washed, I wanted to oblige. Couple quick metrc exports and we were able to pretty quickly compile some numbers on 260 varietals. I've included Strain name, ice water hash yield and then rosin yield. All of these numbers compiled from fresh frozen whole plant input material. Overall, the list makes a great reference point. Especially for those of you that do toll processing for other cultivators. Though yeild is not an exact metric, these numbers can give you a ballpark of what to expect in some of these genotypes in regards to solventless potential/viability for your model. Unfortunately, the list doesn't yet dictate whether each variety was found in seed or is a circulated clone, and thinking in real time that'd make for a great addition to the log. Keep in mind the extreme variability here. Factors such as environment, harvest time, input material etc all have an influence on yields and resin composition. Some of these are grown by us, some by cultivators we work with. Even in our own single source runs, duplicating yield metrics run to run are damn difficult. Hope this is useful to a few of you. Open for any and all discussion regarding.

When I say we do it for the terps... I mean we do it for the terps! They can keep the same six 5+%ers. Over here... the hunt goes on!

Most people are after the higher numbers, yes. The numbers represent a yield equivalent from fresh frozen flower input. So for instance, 1000 grams of Zkittlez fresh frozen, washed into hash yielded a 3.26% return, or 32.6 Grams of Bubble Hash. This then is then pressed into rosin, resulting in even more loss during the manufacturing process. Final rosin yield being 2.25% of initial 1000 gram weight. So 32.6 grams became 22.5 grams by the time processing is complete, as more wieght is left behind in fats and lipids as we extract the oil content from the glandular trichome head . Hope that helps clarify a bit. What yeild one is after is determined by factors like their market value of finished product, overhead, etc. Some farmers can afford to vend things in the 2% range, others would go broke.

Where else could you find a response like this? Seriously I want to know…. That is years of R&D presented on silver platter for guys!!!! Now you know why I brought @Cannadivine on board! This type of information is priceless. I can’t thank him enough for taking time to present such thorough answers to our island 🏝️ community!!!
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
If you’re in Oklahoma make sure you visit The Divine Collection in Tulsa! I’m sure he is willing to provide a list of where his products are available throughout the state.

Cool! I've grown JMO before. Then I saw GMO numbers were twice as high!

I noticed the numbers on Ice Cream Cake (1.06% 0.00%). Does that mean it was never pressed into rosin? Why do you think it washed so low?

What are your favorites?

Thanks so much for the detailed response! I'm loving the clean 'end product' of the processes, but had not much idea of what the numbers meant.
Seriously, my throat feels so much better with the resins...even better than vaping the herb. Sorta spoiled me.

I do have a question about how the flavor of chocolate carries over, it's one flavor that i have not found in the local dispensaries.

funny thing is in bet I would get higher off this one.. [but I am old]
A lot of this list is compiled from our washing of 3rd party material. Many of their cultivars being selected from fem and regular seed, or clones they aquire in market. If memory serves me, this wasn't the clone only majority of us hold so near and dear, but a feminized seed find. My chem 91 for example is a tried and true 3 to 4 percenter. Definitely solventless potential in the chem/chemdawg lines. However, the outcrossings don't always prove true of this. Thats the fun of the hunt!

I personally find chocolates as a more of a complimenting profile than dominant. Its a hard one to find and say "That taste like chocolate" I've had a few varities give notes of white chocolate. And the old GG4 that was circulated around 'Rado in the mid 2013ish to 15 era (my memory in regards to timeframe sucks) had heavy notes of chocolate when she was done right. Those types of flavors have a bit of a placebo type influence i think than anything. I find terpernes and distinguishment of them on your pallet similar to people who smoke cigars, or drink higher end bourbons. The average consumer isn't able to sort through the dominant profile to pick up the nuances. That comes with time, and intent in consumption. Training our pallet to identify the signals that make us think chocolate, or banana, etc. Hell, consume a variety with a few different friends and break down what your tasting in real time. You'll find each of you pick up on different notes. One may taste honeydew, the other cucumber, then when spoken, you both can find hints of what the other suggested. Then theres the added variable of our endocannabinoid systems being unigue and adaptive. I've experienced that myself on varities through life that lose their luster for me. At the time, my olfactory was drawn to a flavor, because my cannabinoid system craved that. As time, age, mood, and environment change, i believe it does as well. Drawing us to new terpene profiles we may have turned a blind eye to at an earlier time in our journey. Pretty cool really. End of the day: the nose knows! 😂 Kind of a stoned rant, i apologize, but hope that makes a bit of sense. Again, subjective im sure, but thats my general take on it all.

Bro! This is amazing data! Thank you for sharing. I'd be curious to testing breakdowns beyond that, dominant terpene, overall terpene percentages, stuff like that. But not complaining or asking for anymore than you have already provided. Great data collection and recording, I love it!

My trust issues with the labs keeps me from posting it as relevant data brother. Even back to back on same batches of bubble hash bulk, the rosin numbers have severe inconsistencies in regards to terp panel and cannabinoid testing. I believe theres an allowed 15% variance either way from there reported numbers. With that said, a safe average to place terp percentages in is the 5 to 6 range. Some hit 7+, some rarely sub 4. Most of them consisting of varying percentages each of the dominant terpenes were all already familiar with (limonene, linalool, caryophellene, myrcene, humulene, etc). Every now and again something unique pops up. Observing the lab reports over last 5 years, i have noticed, as their state requirements and equipment change, so does the panel of total terpenes theyre testing for. Early on the list was huge, we regularly hit 8 9 10 percent terps. then the list seemed to cut to about 20, and has slowly grown from there. So so for instance you have high levels of Farnesene, and they don't test for it specifically in that panel, does that effect overal terp percentage pulled, as its not part of the equation? 🤷‍♂️ Initially, averages went down, and have over time come back to what we had initially experienced. Assuming due to the terpene composition being tested against a wider array as regulators identifiy/legitimize them. Again, just an assumption based on my observations. Not sure there is any wieght to it. Using the old sniffer as my guide, I've had underwhelming jars report back at 8% terps, and absolute heaters that would gas out a room when cracked hit 2. Enter overall skepticism to it all here.

I appreciate your objective and truthful perspective on this. Knowing guys that own/run some of these labs, in many states/markets its been a money grab. Testing is mandated in most states, but not for terpenes. These labs make money in mandated states, hand over fist. But will only invest and maintain the equipment and standards for the testing that is required. Many labs have dropped off testing terpenes completely because its not required for them to do so, and the ones that do, aren't doing a proper standardized test. Plus terpenes can be so sensitive and volatile that even the process of testing them can make them degrade or evaporate.

As you said, albeit subjective, the ol' sniffer is the best instrument we have to gauge quality.
