I don't remember what strain i had when i had the shingles. Capsasin helped a little. Seemed to be worse when i'd try to sleep, nothing helped enough. Luckily, i didn't have a huge bad case and it didn't last as long as some folks'. Nasty enough stuff, that i didn't hesitate much to get the shots...and i am leary of shots. As i age, tho, i tend to go for vaccs that i avoided earlier in life. I've had a couple of flu and pneumonia bouts that i just don't think that i could survive 'unhospitalized', these days. So, have had those two shingles shots, a pneumonia shot, the covids, and thinking about the flu shot. Yah, some of those really knocked me down, others didn't affect me hardly at all.
As far as strains...i would avoid anything that tends to make you anxious/antsy. I wonder how cbd would work. I agree with carty on the chocolate trip, don't know if i hit on the certain pheno...seems what i've seen were pretty consistant, not that the mouse is as finely tuned to subtle differences...or even unsubtle ones, ha. I did use capsasin and it helped. Learned that i couldn't use the gaba or most of those nerve meds way back in the first days of trying to fight the fibro, so don't know what to say on those for shingles.
good luck, may this ailment pass quickly.
