They take some prep and there's a much longer wait time and no way to tell if it's a for sure thing til you see some pins.
They love landscape woodchips.If it's super dry you can run a drip or irrigate another way.They will dry out and turn off white but can come out of it just fine with moisture as a white rot fungus.
Depending on the mushroom 2-6" woodchips and maybe a few ornamentals for some shade or a shady side of the house.Grasses can be beneficial. Zone5-8 shouldn't have any issues at all
