Grow

Week 1: Germination

2024-04-14

Germinated 4 seeds with paper towel method in plastic box placed on heatmat.
4/4 germinated within 24 hours. Seeds looked healthy and strong.

2024-04-15
Tails are 1cm (0.4 inch) long. Transplanted into cups with medium (premixed soil + coco + perlite) and sprayed lightly.
Put the cups in a moisture dome in the tent under the 150w light at 20%.

2024-04-16
Accidentally knocked over one of the cups so had to replant the sprouted seed.
The other 3 have lost their helmet and are looking healthy.

The twice transplanted bean is a bit behind in development due to the stress it went through, but nothing a bit of LST can't fix later on.
VPD is rather low due to low humidity and temperatures this week. Decided to leave the humidity dome on the cups for the time being.

Still keeping them under the humidity dome until transplanting as humidity still is low. Transplanting when the leaves are wider than the cup. Giving them 230PPFD 24/0.

Week 2: Transplant

2024-04-24
(1 week, 2 days old)

They are looking big enough to be transplanted into the fabric pots.

I like to water them so the roots and soil act like a glue for eachother, and then cut open the paper cup while holding it, as displayed below.
Here we can see that the roots are developed and it is ready for the next phase.

They are put into the 19L (5 gallon) fabric pots which have premixed coco, perlite and peat and under the 300w FC 3000.
They are getting +- 250 PPFD 24/0 (until veg phase) and the fan has been activated to strengthen the stems.

Week 3: Seedling

2024-04-30
(2 weeks , 1 day old)

They are getting 100ml every 2 days and are growing steadily. They had almost no transplant shock it seems, no delay on growth.
Same 24/0 lightschedule until they are 3 weeks old and they are in veg.
Conditions are +- 60% RH and +- 20°C (or 68°F).

Still week 3: Vegetation
2024-05-04
(2 weeks, 5 days old)

The first 5 fingered leaves are developed, we are now in veg phase.
The lights have been adjusted from 24/0 250PPFD to 18/6 600PPFD.
Every plant has gotten their first full watering of 2.5 liters. This volume gives 5-10% runoff.
It would be slightly better if I gave every plant 3 liters to get 10% runoff but I always use one bucket which comes out to 2.5l per plant and CBA to change my routine haha. I keep the volume consistent and the pH between 6.2-6.4 during the entire grow

They have not gotten nutes yet, they will receive the first (half) dose of veg nutes in a day or 5.

They've gotten their first feeding, half of the advised amounts for a plant that went from seedling to early veg.
I'm using Advanced Nutrients - Jungle Juice. 10L with 5ml silica, 6ml Grow, 6ml Bloom and 6ml Micro, pH'd to 6.3

Their 5th node was a few cm long so it was time to top them all.
